Ophthalmic equipment was purchased and sent to Labasa Hospital in Fiji to assist in the early detection of cataracts. We liaised with The Fred Hollows Foundation who obtained the quotations for the purchase of the equipment and with funding provided by the Club, our Sister Club Taipei Pacific plus a matching Grant through Rotary Foundation enabled this project to be a success. Development of a rest area at the entrance to Waitakere Hospital where patients can sit with relatives and friends. Seats were funded by members and local families. Sculptures were installed. The project is ongoing and the next stage will be a landscape area at the entrance to the Hospital grounds expected to commence in the near future.Three pallets of Educational learning books were distributed around various primary schools in the local area. Funding has been provided to local primary schools to improve the literacy skills of children.
